So You Want To Make A Movie

by amcdocumentary on October 5, 2008

Funny how something can be right under your nose, but it takes getting hit in the head to see the light. I have been doing a lot of corporate documentaries/videos in the last 3 years. It never occured to me to make one about AMC. I was driving downtown with my friend, Phil (who is now recruited as the editor) and he asked why not try? Phil is a great guy and volunteered to help spread the word.

As soon as I posted online, dozens of people responded that it was a good idea. So really it was that simple. Let’s make a documentary about AMC and highlight some of the kids, teens and adults. I put a marketing proposal together for the AMC Board of Directors and it was approved.

Now the fun starts. I will be traveling around the country over the next 12 months interviewing as many families as I can capture. My goal is to post video interview snippets along with audio podcasts. The full length documentary will be available late 2009.

As soon as I started the planning and talking, an amazing number of people volunteered their services. Many are people I know through a work situation and others are friends. Not to mention, the families on the boards are all offering help. This really is turning into a community project and we are all so excited.

I do have to admit though, I am a little nervous. I hope I can make everyone proud. We have so many stories to share and so many people to reach. More on the marketing plan later.
