Clutter-free, 4 resolutions for 2009

by amcdocumentary on January 6, 2009

I am a pile person and not ashamed to admit it. There is something soothing about stacks of paperwork and projects half completed. Maybe it reminds me that I am busy, that usually 5 minutes into a project the boys find me and drag me away.

Now that I am diving into the documentary I realize this won’t work. I need to be organized, I need to create timelines and I need to find my workspace. It drives people crazy to see the piles yet I can always find what I am looking for when I need it.

I started to clean house this weekend and it felt good. Now I am ready to tackle my workspace and the documentary. So listed below are 4 resolutions or goal for the month of January. I believe short term goals are the most attainable. I also know I have a long list of improvements to make.

  1. I vow to post all interviews completed in 2008 to the site by end of January. These will be posted in 5-8 minute segments with a transcript available for the full interview (when permission is granted).
  2. I vow to post at least 2x/week to this blog. I write the posts in my head and then usually fall asleep before hitting the computer. And include a picture.
  3. I vow to have a 1.5 minute trailer put together by end of January. This will help me with grants and it will help show progress.
  4. I vow to share outside news as well that pertains to our AMC community as well as interesting developments with the documentary. And I will always respond to comments.

I think 2009 is going to be an amazing year and I am eager to get working. I also have learned that it is much easier for people to jump in and help when you clearly communicate expectations.

Tonight, my first step is to create a timeline and a list of things needed to happen to make the above a reality. My old manager would be so proud of my list making, clutter free and short term goals vision.

I just found your blog by looking for support groups on google for Arthrogryposis. Our daughter, who is 10 and was in Ukraine until the age of nearly 8 years old, has AMC. After she came home, 4 months later, because of numerous unsuccessful surgeries on her feet, she had to have her feet amputated. The only information we had about her before we went to get her was a broken english sentence, “her joint don’t work!” LOL
What did that mean? We found out later….. and it is all history.

She wears prosthetic legs now and is walking, knitting, and has all sorts of interests. She is happy and smart and beautiful.

Our family blog shows pictures of her and our other daughters too, (one with restrictive band syndrome) who also has a prosthetic leg and missing fingers.

My father in law also put together a video of her walking journey on youtube
It is called, “Erika’s Walking Journey”.

Oh, and we are de cluttering and getting organized too…..:)

Welcome to the AMC family. Have you signed up for our support group? http://www.amcsupport.org. Excellent resource. Erika is such a beautiful girl. And a smile that draws you in. I would love to include you in the documentary project if you are interested. Texas isn’t that far away. You can always let me know: amcdocumentary@gmail.com.
